The Motto: “Their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindor’s apart”.

The House of Gryffindor is one of the four famous Houses in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The House was named after Godric Gryffindor. Godric Gryffindor was also the one who created the legendary sorting hat and how students were sorted into each house after the Founders passed away.

The House colors chosen by Godric were scarlet and gold. The animal representing the house was the head of a roaring lion. Followed by the traits which are brave, daring, nerve and chivalry. The House ghost was Nearly Headless Nick who was a former student at Hogwarts and did belong to House of Gryffindor.

The Gryffindor Common Room is located at Gryffindor Tower. The entrance to which is located on the 7th floor and is guarded by an oil painting of the Fat Lady. She permits entry only after being given the correct password. Behind her painting is a large common room, with a fireplace, and two staircases leading up to the girls’ and boys’ dormitories.

The common room is very comfortable, and members of the Gryffindor house meet there for study groups, celebrations, or relaxation. The walls are lined with portraits, each one depicting a previous or current Head of Gryffindor. Lastly the element is fire for House of Gryffindor.
