The House was named after Salazar Slytherin. Salazar Slytherin was a pure blood wizard and believed to only want pure bloods in his part of the house and Hogwarts in general. He was a parselmouth and skilled legilimens which meant he can talk to snakes. He did not trust anyone and strongly dislike muggle born students to the point he wanted them banned from Hogwarts. However the other founders disagreed and Salazar Slytherin disappeared to never return to Hogwarts again but not after creating The Chamber of Secrets.

The House colors chosen by Salazar Slytherin were green and silver. The animal representing the house is a snake. Followed by the traits which are ambitious, shrewd, cunning, strong leaders, and achievement-oriented. The House ghost was Bloody Baron who was a former student at Hogwarts and did belong to House of Slytherin. The Bloody Baron received his nickname from killing Helena Ravenclaw whom he was in love with. Distort which what he had done he committed suicide.

The Slytherin Common room is located at the dungeons of Hogwarts. The dormitories were located beneath the Black Lake. It is a low underground room with rough walls and silver lanterns hanging from the celling. Lastly the element of the House of Slytherin is water.
